The Winner’s Circle 2022

It’s that time of year again: The summer announcement of the CASE Award Winners.

First, a huge congratulations to Milton Academy on winning the 2022 Robert Sibley Award.

We at Dog Ear hadn’t heard much about Milton over the years, but they’re sure on our radar now. A smart magazine all around, with some great art choices. (Fair warning: Don’t look at the photography in the Food Issue on an empty stomach!)

As we’ve mentioned before, the coolest part about our jobs at Dog Ear is the clients we get to collaborate with. So a special shout out to Monmouth Magazine and illustrator Simone Martin-Newberry for winning a Gold in the illustration category for the series, “The Long Struggle.

The illustrations accompanied a feature-length Q&A with Monmouth Professor of African American Studies Hettie Williams about the ways current social justice protests are the continuation—not separate from—the Civil Rights Movement. Each illustration featured figures in a mix of color and black and white to depict the continuum of past to present in the fight for equality.

This is the second time we’ve had the chance to write about Simone’s great work in the Dog Blog. She illustrated the cover theme package for the issue of Hopkins Bloomberg Public Health that won the magazine team a Gold Award from Anthem in early 2022, alongside other Gold winners like Nike, Google, The Daily Show, and HBO Max.
